Puerto Rican soprano Silka Cardona has over seven years of performance experience singing in operas, zarzuelas and musical theater in Puerto Rico and New York City.  Ms. Cardona has sung leading roles in productions such as Hansel and Gretel, The Finishing School, The Old Maid and the Thief, El Barberillo de Lavapiés, and Bastian und Bastienne.  She holds an MA in Music Performance from New York University and a BA in Music Education from the University of Puerto Rico.  Ms. Cardona has also performed in Europe at the Assisi Music Festival and the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposia.  She is delighted to be a member and co-founder of the quartet Ensueño, dedicated to the performance of Puerto Rican and Latin-American classical music.   At the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts she works as a voice teacher, choir conductor, and collaborates with the Drama Department as vocal coach and musical director of the Musical Theatre Workshop.  Ms. Cardona is also a faculty member of the Great Neck Arts Center, where she works as a voice and elementary piano instructor.
